On the Edge Fund, Storyteller grantee spotlight

18/06/2025

The latest TikTok trend may not be what you’re expecting. It’s time for Mobula Mobula to take the stage, inspiring a movement of pride across Indonesia. #legendalaut

Yanyie and Chris have two decades of experience in professional media production. They are now channeling everything they’ve learned to help protect nature. Together, they are building Asia’s first impact-driven creative collective.

The Story

This project will champion local voices, turning fishers pledges to new livelihoods into a pride movement. Their idea is to develop and run a series of creative workshops to co-create a social content series with local community members. Naming it #legendalaut, it will be an optimistic and joyful campaign centred around stories told by Champions in their own raw, authentic, creative voices, shining a light on the pioneers in their community who are striving to protect the rays through bold life changes. Yanyie and Chris will equip young people with training, mentorship, and tools they are unlikely to access elsewhere, opening new creative pathways and possibilities. Their goal is not only to inspire them to tell powerful stories now, but to empower them to continue telling those stories well into the future. Through storytelling, they have the potential to become the cultural leaders of tomorrow, the voices that shape identity, preserve heritage, and spark change.
